You won’t get sucked into contracts, meaning you can watch and learn at your own pace. What’s great about Udemy is all of their courses are just a one-time fee. ![]() Udemy has amazing courses with hours of video lessons that can help bring you up to speed, and start recording with better results. You can choose what you want to disclose about yourself and how you represent.Get Your Copy of Pro Tools Today! Top Pick: Udemy Music Production Tutorials I can say that i'm still questioning a 'return' on the investment, but I do know i've been a hero in more than 1 situation, and that has opened up new relationships and opportunities for me. Learning about how and why protools was designed, issues and work-arounds that have been established and its development gives me background that many people don't get from just teaching themselves a program. hm, i don't know.Īgain there are some great books to learn from out there. Maybe schools should be more discerning about admittance & maybe digi should offer certain scholarships if they really want people to learn their gear. and they're usually the ones w/o confidence that have to FRONT about all their education and can't ultimately perform, It gives schools and training programs a bad rep. Many dumbasses have gone to schools and trainings and can't tell up from down, just 'cuz they had the $$ privelege. Usually get a grin and a scratched head when after asking how I knew that I note that I did certification training. Ya know, i don't telegraph that i'm certified or have PT pissing contests, but when we're doing a session and as a 2nd engineer I can fix a session problem, or hold my weight on a arguement about a template, i/o setup, or processing decision that the self taught "Pro's" can't figure out, it has certainly worked in my favor. Note: I had the *hardest* time w/ my 6.1 upgrade and it took the DUC and lots of others w/ hard knocks to get my system worked out, no matter what I think "i" know.Įmail me if you wanna pro's will think you're an idiot for taking the course if you're just starting, it can make a nice foundation, 'specially if you have a funder. out of som 100 people who took the test, only 9 of us passed it the first time around, and then only about 30 got certified.Īs previously mentioned, tho, there's no education like experience itself. You can look like a dork if you walk around telling people you're 'certified'. studying for the test made me learn things i'd never ever have bother to memorize, but have come in handy. the books? great reference, and I'll keep getting updates w/ each revision (so they say). There is something to knowing an industry standard that so many people just have bits & pieces. TDM systems, setup, 5.1 & post, procontrol control 24, lotsa short keys cemented, and learning why and how digi developed their stuff really focused my engineering approach. Honestly? I really learned a ton about PT. ![]() Let me know if you would like anything more specific.ĭid 201, 210M & 210P, passed both cert tests. They need to get their training to be more real world. Too much of the course was working with the actual SampleCell program and not enough on Pro Tools.īoth courses ran me $1,800 and I did get some interesting things out of it, but I don't think they are worth it.ĭigi also offers the 310M course and you can take the test to be certified Pro Tools Expert, but guess what? Digi hasn't developed the test yet so you can't take it.Īvid has been in the training biz for some time now and they have it down, Digi's program is too immature IMO. I wasn't crazy about the way the courses were structured, especially the 210M course which was focused heavy on MIDI recording, which isn't bad however it was all working with DirectConnect which Digi no longer supports (been replaced with Rewire) and Sample Cell. The course material is the same regardless of where you go. ![]() I took the PT 201 and 210M courses from Future Media Concepts in NYC. ![]()
